Inside the Collective, you’ll go from: Constantly Googling and DIY-ing everything to having an expert-backed monthly plan that supports you (and your IEPs)
Imagine walking into your classroom knowing the centers, adapted books, and task boxes your students need are already done—giving you more energy to actually teach instead of scramble.
You’ll finally have clear, simple action steps for handling behaviors, managing paras, and setting up systems—so you can lead your classroom like the confident boss you were meant to be.
You’ll have someone in your corner, ready to answer questions, brainstorm solutions, and remind you: you’re not doing this alone anymore—and you never have to again
“I love being part of The Exceptional Collective and the community. The resources Dawn provides are engaging for my students and helpful for my associates. Dawn provides a variety of resources for different levels of academic engagement. Her videos are thought provoking and she gives clear, simple ways to make my classroom a better place for my students, my associates and myself. Incorporating one thing at a time, as to not get too overwhelmed has truly helped me be a better teacher. “
Hi, I’m Dawn Ellis—National Board Certified SPED teacher, podcast host, and the founder of Cultivating Exceptional Minds. I’ve spent over 16 years in self-contained and inclusion classrooms teaching learners with complex needs. I created The Exceptional Collective to give other special educators the tools, resources, and community I wish I had earlier in my career. You don’t have to do this alone—let’s make your classroom feel functional, supported, and (dare I say?) fun again.
Two years ago, I sat alone in my classroom after dismissal, staring at a stack of IEPs and behavior charts and wondering if I could really do this another year.
I didn’t need another download.
I needed a way through the chaos—and a reminder that I wasn’t failing, I was trying to survive without support.
That’s why I built The Exceptional Collective. For teachers like you. For teachers like me.
A monthly membership built for special education teachers in self-contained classrooms, who are ready to stop surviving the school year and start leading it with clarity, confidence, and support.
This isn’t another resource library you’ll forget to use.
It’s a complete support system designed to save you hours, simplify your systems, and make your classroom work, for you and your students.
The Exceptional Collective is a monthly membership for self-contained special education teachers who want ready-to-use lessons, visuals, and systems that actually work. It’s perfect for educators who are tired of piecing everything together and want to feel confident, prepared, and supported all year long.
Perfect for the teacher who wants fresh resources at a low monthly price.

We know you’re juggling a lot—data collection, behavior plans, visuals, and about 67 other things before lunch. That’s why The Exceptional Collective was built to actually support you… not add more to your plate.
But here’s the thing:
If you join and realize it’s not the right fit, there’s zero pressure to stay. Cancel Anytime. No Guilt, No Questions.
Whether you choose the monthly or annual plan, you can cancel anytime with just a couple clicks. You’ll keep access through the end of your billing cycle, and then you’re free to go. (Though we think you’ll want to stay—because once your classroom runs smoother, it’s hard to go back.)
Let’s break down the biggest hesitations:
“I don’t have time to use another thing…”
That’s exactly why this exists. No more digging through Pinterest or staying late to prep. You’ll get monthly plug-and-play materials, editable templates, and trainings you can watch while folding laundry.
“I can’t afford one more subscription.”
Totally get it. But ask yourself—how much is your time really worth? If this saves you just 2 hours a week, that’s 8+ hours a month back in your life… and way less stress.
“I’m not sure I’m doing this whole special ed thing right.”
You’re not alone. Inside the Collective, you’ll be surrounded by other passionate, overwhelmed, committed teachers—just like you. You’ll get the tools and the community to move from chaos to confidence.
The Exceptional Collective is designed for self-contained special education teachers working with students in preschool through 6th grade. Many of the resources are also easily adaptable for learners who are working below grade level, regardless of their age.
You’re in luck! Many of the curriculum resources inside The Exceptional Collective are aligned with the Alabama Alternate Achievement Standards (AAAS) or are easily adapted to support them. As a member, you’ll also get access to implementation tips and pacing guides to help you confidently teach on the alternate course of study.
New resources drop into your member portal on the 1st of each month, like clockwork! Each month includes printable and digital materials, a training, and templates that support instruction, organization, and IEP documentation—everything you need to make your month run smoother.
No worries! All trainings and Q&As are recorded and added to your dashboard within 48 hours. That means you can watch on your own schedule—whether you’re catching up during your planning period, on a walk, or while sipping your favorite coffee at home.
Absolutely. EC is designed for busy teachers! Resources are print-and-go or digital-ready, and trainings are bite-sized — no multi-hour PD marathons here. You can jump in, grab what you need, and come back later whenever you’re ready.
Nope! EC supports both new and experienced teachers. If you’re tired of surviving without strong systems, if you want monthly adapted materials you can actually use, and if you could use a team that gets it — EC is your next right move.
No worries — all coaching calls are recorded and available in the member hub. Plus, you can pre-submit questions if you know you can’t attend live.
Yes! We’re confident you’ll love it, but if your needs change, you can cancel anytime — no complicated hoops to jump through.
You’re not behind because you’re disorganized. You’re behind because you’ve been expected to run a complex, high-needs classroom with nothing but outdated resources, generic advice, and whatever you can find on Teachers Pay Teachers at midnight. You’re writing behavior plans during your planning period, printing last-minute visuals during lunch, and still wondering if you’re actually meeting anyone’s IEP goals.
The Exceptional Collective gives you the clarity, structure, and tools you’ve been missing, from monthly curriculum drops to editable templates, task boxes, and plug-and-play visuals. So you can stop guessing, start leading, and finally feel like the confident special educator your students already believe you are.
You’ve spent enough time piecing things together, staying late, and wondering if you’re doing it right.
The Exceptional Collective gives you the systems, support, and ready-to-use resources to finally feel in control of your classroom.
This isn’t just a vault of materials.
It’s your path to:
If you’re tired of guessing, scrambling, and doing it all alone—this is your moment to make a change.
The Exceptional Collective isn’t just a “membership site.”
👉 It’s a movement back to what special education was supposed to feel like: supported, resourced, connected, and thriving.
